I liked this coffee a lot during my previous visit, and I will bring this one to my country. Is it a low-quality coffee? Are there better ones? (It is coffee beans and 23 euros)

One of the prime brands. Maybe even the most sold.
As far store bought coffees go it’s very goodÂ
Fancier ones are sold in artisanal boutiques or online but they aren’t really worth it if you’re not a big coffee person. The higher the cost of the coffee the more effort it takes to actually prepare it well and taste a differenceÂ
Douwe Egberts has some good stuff, not the best quality but definitely above average. And honestly, if you like it, that’s what matters.
It smells in here like Douwe Egberts
I like the taste of Illy Classic.
The best coffee is the one you enjoy drinking 😉
I don’t know what it is with this particular style (the ‘gold’ one), but I know several people who find this to be the ‘best’ beans to be found amongst the regular brands. I don’t have a clue myself as I don’t drink coffee 😀
It’s not even Belgian coffee it’s Dutch.
Haters will say it’s not snobby or good enough.
People who know, know it’s the taste and smell of sunday pancakes at your grandmother’s at 12 am right after your football game. Each and every sip.
Bruynooghe koffie…we hebben een boontje voor u.
Verkrijgbaar in supermarkten en webshop.
I like this or Illy classic as well the most from the usual coffee brands one can buy. So its pretty good.
If you like this coffee, Reddit’s opinion doesn’t matter.
Shop around for prices. Also online. My DE coffee is 30% cheaper when bought online (from a Dutch webshop…).
I drink it all the time it’s my favourite.
It’s not bad but personally I prefer Lavaza. Some local brands that can be found in supermarkets are also very good like Hoorens for example. Taste is personal of course.
This is a Dutch brand of coffee.
It’s one of the better ones in the industrial tier.
And honestly… If you like it, by all means, enjoy it. Don’t let us coffee snobs tell you otherwise. And yes, there’s always better ones, and always more exclusive ones… It doesn’t matter if you enjoy this brand. Keep on enjoying it.
It’s good, nothing memorable but good enough as your daily driver. If you are in a big city, go to a Portuguese shop and buy Delta coffee. Or in the Brazilian shops, you can find Pilão (but that one might be a bit too strong).
Is it bad or low quality? No. It’s a decent brand.
Compared to other big brands I think Illy and Lavaza are better though and similarly priced, but that’s because I prefer espresso and cappuccino. Douwe Egberts I associate more with drip coffee.
If you want premium coffee, go to a specialized shop instead. But like others said, if you like it…you like it.
Douwe Egbert Dessert is quite good and cheap. Though Rombouts Goudmerk is arguably even better and cheaper.
If you like it, you should take it home.
And with your next visit, try out some other coffee if you want to or feel like it, and maybe you’ll like other stuff even more.
Imo it’s low-quality, but if you like it, that’s all that matters.
If you actually like coffee – especially espresso, enjoy its taste and whatnot, then no. In this case go to people who actually know how to toast coffee – Italians (I mean brands).
If you just like to have some coffee in your mug – yes, why not, if you find that it’s a right price for you.
I get their pods for espresso. Not too bad. Doesn’t matter the brand or cost when I pump my pumpkin spice/liquid diabetes on it, it’s all gonna taste the same anyways.
I can’t handle coffee anymore ( gives me anxiety attacks yay ) but I miss a good strong cup with my grandmother after the weekly market.
It’s good, non complex, tasting coffee.
There is a reason this is probably the most sold brand in Belgium (and the Netherlands)
I like the coffee, it’s great/price quality for day to day drinking.
Douwe Egberts is probably one of the best coffee brands
Get some from Van Hove
Douwe Egberts is _uibiquitous_. It is a decent coffee, used almost everywhere, and affordable.
It’s no specialty roasted coffee but it’s a tried and true brand.
I offer Kouwe Egberts to my neighbours. Never liked them.
DE Dessert is my daily coffee. Stuff is very mediocre but brews well in a Bialetti and it’s accurately priced. I buy it in bulk when on sale for ~9e/kg.
I buy good coffee from local ‘branderijen’ for the odd treat or for guests, but it’s just too expensive to justify a daily cup.
I think officially, by snobby coffee people, it’s considered average or slightly above average. But as a person who drinks coffee because they’re addicted… It’s hard for me to care about aroma, taste, bla, bla, bla. I get that this matters to some, and probably it’s a bit caught up in status signaling too, but meh.
I read an article recently that did a coffee test between various brands. Ground, whole bean and instant. Fancy stuff and basic stuff. The winner was an instant coffee made by Illy. Both by those who preferred whole grain and those who preferred instant. I think that says something. Maybe. But what do I know.
It’s decent coffee, I used to drink it all the time. Too bad I had to boycott it since it’s still doing business in Russia.
It’s a very good quality one.
Remember, coffee is a fresh product, as vegetables.
Store it in the fridge and keep the bag sealed as much as possible.
I found DE Decaf to be the best out there.
Their Gold not so much but it’s decent.
