WANA (Oct 28) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that strengthening scientific, cultural, economic, political, and security ties between Iran and Pakistan will further solidify the friendship between the two nations. Emphasizing the need to reduce tensions and avoid any form of conflict in the region, he announced Iran’s readiness to assist in resolving disputes between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

 

During a meeting on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, with Syed Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan’s Minister of Interior, on the sidelines of the 4th ECO Interior Ministers’ Meeting in Tehran, President Pezeshkian described relations between the two countries as cordial and exemplary.

 

“Relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan are built on brotherhood and mutual trust,” Pezeshkian stated. “We believe our cooperation can serve as a model for others. Expanding ties in scientific, cultural, economic, political, and security fields will strengthen these bonds even further.”

 

Highlighting the deep historical and religious ties between the two nations, the president added, “We consider the people of Pakistan our brothers and take pride in our close and friendly relations. I hope your presence in Tehran and this meeting will accelerate the implementation of past agreements and yield positive results for both countries.”

 

Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s willingness to help bridge differences between Pakistan and Afghanistan, stressing that: “We must all work to reduce tensions and prevent any form of conflict, as this is a clear directive of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH). Now, more than ever, Muslim nations must remain united and stand together against common enemies.”

 

In response, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi congratulated Iran on hosting a successful ECO meeting and thanked the Iranian government and people for their hospitality.

“This is my fourth visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran within a year, reflecting the depth and importance of bilateral relations between Islamabad and Tehran,” Naqvi said.

 

Referring to President Pezeshkian’s historic visit to Pakistan, Naqvi praised the current level of cooperation between the two interior ministries, calling it the best in recent years.

 

“We hope the agreements reached will soon lead to tangible and practical outcomes,” he added. “Joint border efforts and cooperation in counterterrorism have made significant progress.”

 

Naqvi also noted that terrorism and illegal immigration remain shared concerns for both nations, saying that constructive collaboration has already yielded positive results.

 

“We are engaged in productive dialogue with the Afghan government and seek to resolve regional issues peacefully through dialogue,” he said. “We must not allow tensions in the region to escalate.”

 

Concluding the meeting, the Pakistani minister expressed appreciation for Iran’s principled stance and active role in regional diplomacy, emphasizing that Pakistan welcomes Iran’s mediation efforts—particularly in improving relations between Islamabad and Kabul—and looks forward to continuing close cooperation in this regard.
