Hezbollah Is Rearming, Putting Cease-Fire at Risk

1. Israel is losing patience as the Lebanese militant group restocks rockets, antitank missiles and artiller. Lebanese leaders, through are asking Israel for patience and are open to increasing intelligence-sharing and coordination with Israel despite the neighboring states being technically at war however the Lebanese army is reluctant to confront Hezbollah still, raising the spectre of Israel conducting more air strikes or conducting another invasion of Lebanon.

2. Hasn’t Israel already bombed Southern Lebanon, since this Cease-Fire is in place?

   This is like a bad sequel no one asked for, just end this nonsense once and for all.

5. Israel would obviously prefer that Hezbollah fully capitulates, but the status quo isn’t that awful for Israel either. The status quo keeps Hezbollah degraded and Lebanon weak in perpetuity, which means the North is secure. If Hezbollah disarmed and Lebanon kicked out Iranian colonialism, it would be an opportunity for Lebanon to become a normal state, and therefore to become strong, and in a few decades, potentially a threat to Israel through unforeseeable developments, since there are never permanent friends nor enemies. Iranian colonialism remaining on life support in Lebanon ensures that Lebanon is corrupted and cannot grow, and therefore cannot ever pose a strategic threat to Israel.

6. So the Lebanese state remains unwilling – or more likely unable – to disarm Hezbollah. Lebanon remains a failed state, Israel will continue to take potshots at anything in south Lebanon it doesn’t like, and in twenty years or so there’ll be another war. Joy.

7. Lebanese army dragging it’s feet on purpose. “ran out of explosives”. really. 

8. Israel should do a full ground invasion of Lebanon and install a friendly puppet government.
