  1. It’s simple. Represent and fight for the workers and you will win.

Plaid, you have my vote. Keep it up.

  2. I work a 4 day week, it’s great. I could never go back to 5.

  3. What utter nonsense. Done to appease the public sector that dominates the Welsh “economy”…..if that’s even the right word.
Just as in the UK Labour government and Welsh Labour, these airhead politicians have no experience of, or insight into how a business needs to run.

  4. how would this work if you work from home for a company based outside of Wales?

  5. I can’t see how it can be more productive for frontline NHS workers who are seeing patients all day. If for example you’re a physio in a clinic all week and drop a day, you just see less people. So you will need more people in those jobs. I can’t see how it can be equitable over the whole economy.

  6. 4 day week? Yeah brill, that doesn’t work if you are in hospitality, healthcare or retail. Those sectors are open 7 days a week and with the financial and legal burdens of employing new staff to cover another day off it won’t be fiscally viable for many businesses – just look at how many pubs and clubs are closing. A 4 day week was made up by an office worker on a Monday-Friday 9-5 job.

Ngl, it’s just populism policies so far – elephant in the room is that the vast majority of the Welsh electorate do not want independence which is fundamentally the soul of this party’s existence. I fear that due to the shocking leadership and governance that Wales has been subject to that they’ll do what the SNP do in Scotland and conflate the want for good governance and the want for independence [and financial ruin].

  7. It doesn’t mean everyone works Monday-Thursday & no one works the rest, for example angcey worker could work Friday,Saturday,Sunday and Monday they off until Friday. Another angcey would work during Monday-Thursday & get Friday,Saturday,Sunday and Monday off. Back in Tuesday. That’s how a four day work week would work. It would be only certain companies not every company on the trail.

  8. Great idea and it’s got to have a positive affect on business doesn’t it? You aren’t going to be sat at home on your extra day off you will be out doing stuff spending money and the mental health benefits will be huge.

  9. Controversial? I’m guessing those that oppose are the employers and those in favour are the employees? Workers are the many, employers are the few.

  10. Our manufacturing processes can’t go faster without risking quality or causing unnecessary stress on staff so thats not going to change.

The shipping / ordering (particularly Amazon based FBA) has to operate until 7pm -8pm so that’s not capable of being done to anything other than a strict timetable.

My management job in 80% of the time? Not a chance. I work during my lunch break, I take work home and I keep track of emails over holidays.

Anyone who says they can do the job they do now in 80% of the time is the reason GDP isnt growing.

  11. If everyone gets to drop a day of work for the same pay, then I expect to get paid more money because I will continue to work 5 days a week. Absolute nonsense this stuff.

  12. great stuff, no doubt the reform lot are bursting blood vessels at the prospect of employees daring to have a better work life balance.

  13. This is absolutely the future of work and it could be a massive vote winner. Devil will be in the detail of the extent of the trial but I am excited to read this.

  14. Some people in this thread are just assuming that Friday becomes a day where no one works. Use your heads like.

No wonder reform are making so many gains in Wales with this level of thought.

  15. I like the job I have. 4 day 10 hour week would be nice ngl. I’d even offer to do m-th and tu-fr alternate weeks.
