ZALIN / DAYRIK, North and East Syria — Marking “Pink October,” the global month dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer, the institutions of the Syriac (Chaldean–Assyrian–Aramean) people in Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia) and the diaspora organized a series of awareness lectures emphasizing the importance of regular and early screening, methods of prevention, and psychological support for women diagnosed with the disease. The events were held in cooperation with doctors, specialists, and health organizations.

The Syriac Women’s Union in Syria (Huyodo d’Neshe Suryoye b’Suriya, HNSS)  branch in Dayrik (Derik / Malikiyah) was no exception. In collaboration with the Health Authority of the Region of North and East Syria, the branch hosted an awareness lecture attended by dozens of members of the Union and women from the Syriac (Chaldean–Assyrian–Aramean) component as well as other components. The session witnessed strong engagement from the audience, who were given the opportunity to ask questions and share their concerns.

The HNSS in Dayrik expressed its gratitude to the organizers and speakers for providing valuable information that helped increase public awareness of the disease, early detection, self-examination, regular checkups, and the importance of consistent medical follow-up.

In another activity, the HNSS in Zalin (Qamishli) received a delegation from the Women’s Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria, which extended congratulations on the convening of the “Surayto Women’s Conference.”
