Firefighters have extinguished a blaze that broke out at a café on Auckland’s Orewa overnight.

Emergency services received multiple calls about a building fire on the Hibiscus Coast Highway at around 11.20pm on Saturday.

Fire and Emergency NZ said it responded with two crews from Silverdale, one from East Coast Bays, along with crews from Te Atatu and Parnell.

“The crews arrived within ten minutes to find a two storey building measuring 25×10 with the front cafeteria well ablaze,” a FENZ spokesperson said.

Firefighters forced entry and brought the fire under control within 20 minutes. A fire investigator was expected to examine the scene on Sunday to determine the cause, which remained unknown.

No injuries were reported and the extent of the damage was yet to be confirmed.
