DR, the Danish national broadcaster, has revealed details about Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026.

Erik Struve Hansen, producer of Melodi Grand Prix, appeared at the AGM of OGAE Denmark in Herlev over the weekend. While there, he spoke about the preparations for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026 and DR’s new strategy for the contest.

According to Struve Hansen, Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026 will be a modern, renewed and innovative music show with a new stage, logo and visual identity. DR is also focusing on attracting a younger audience for the contest.

Among the participants are several former Dansk Melodi Grand Prix participants, as well as several established names who will debut in the contest. Song Selection

Several focus groups will be involved in the song selection process. A focus group of eight Danish Eurovision fans will be involved in the process. A smaller international focus group will also provide feedback on selected songs. The focus groups will also consult with DR on the further development of the songs that have already been selected.

The format for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix remains unchanged from last year. The results will be decided by 50% jury vote and 50% public voting. The jury will consist of members with expertise in music and performance and with a connection to Dansk Melodi Grand Prix and/or Eurovision. 50% of the jury will be Danish while the other 50% will consist of international members.

DR’s music strategy for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026 is to find eight songs that sound like the perfect Dansk Melodi Grand Prix/Eurovision songs for 2026. The artists will be selected first and the performance will be build around them. DR aims for each performance to be a complete package; artist, song and staging.
