Ukraine says army holding out in Pokrovsk amid intensifying Russian offensive • FRANCE 24 English

Ukraine’s troops are still holding out as Moscow’s forces slowly enclose on Pakovsk. Keefe has landed special forces to the embattled eastern city where Russia has been mounting an intense assault. President Vladimir Silinski says the situation there remains difficult. We continue to destroy the occupiers and the most important thing is to stop Russian attacks wherever possible. Russia wants to turn our entire country into what they are doing to Prosk, what they are doing to Kyansk, our other cities, our communities. We must stop them where they are and destroy them there. Pakovsk in the eastern Donetsk region lies on a major supply route for the Ukrainian army. For 2 years, Moscow has been trying to capture the city as it would pave the way for Moscow to control the entirety of the Donetsk region, a long-standing goal for Russia. Ukraine’s military says at least 200 Russian military personnel have entered the city. They are sending mainly sabotage groups in small groups of three or four. The biggest problem is that almost all of them are sent non-stop in an endless wave. Most of them are also disguised as civilians. Since invading Ukraine in 2022, Russia has been engaged in costly frontline battles for territory. It currently occupies around a fifth of the country.

Ukraine’s top military commander said on Saturday his troops were still holding out in the embattled eastern city of Pokrovsk, which Moscow said its forces were at last enclosing in a pincer movement after more than a year of fighting. Russia has been trying to capture Pokrovsk, dubbed “the gateway to Donetsk”, since mid-2024 in its campaign to control the entirety of Donetsk, a Ukrainian province it claims to have annexed.

  9. Kiev sends soldiers to die knowing it's over, the clown actor cannot accept the facts knowing his power will be at risk. So he sends ppl to die while his family lives safely and sound abroad.
