“Hér” in Icelandic means “here”. The band by that name extends an invitation to the audience: “Be here, experience, be inspired, it is happening now, and it is the essence of participating in our artistic expression.” The band was formed in Gdańsk, northern Poland. The band have announced their debut album, titled Monochrome, arriving on January 30, 2026 via Season of Mist. The single and video for “Needles and Bark” are out now.

The music they create carries the listener to 11th-century Old Norse wisdom poetry. The first inspiration for this artistic meeting were the poems of the Poetic Edda. The band uses “raw means of expression and sounds” including throat singing, trance-like rhythm, and violin strings.

Though they start with ideas of Iceland, conjuring the “dark beauty” of the North, and branch into Norse mythology, this leads further to “universal, human, fundamental experiences.”
