  1. There was a post on Reddit recently criticising a police officer for pushing over a woman who was verbally and close to physically attacking him. That is the kind of attitude that results in this behaviour. Police need to be given authority to police with force again.

  3. Now privately bought fireworks will be banned, damn it. I always buy fireworks for the kiddies to let off in the garden, under strict supervision of course (me with my beer). If I get robbed of this bonding experience I’ll be pissed!

    Edit: it seems that a bunch of Liverpudlians have taken my innocuous comment as some type of personal slight, I’m not sure how that works could someone explain?

  8. Excellent, and now we’ll see a push to ban a 400 year old tradition. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOUNG PEOPLE NOW? We never had shit like this when I was growing up. We used to have those adverts which told children what not to do (flying kites near pylons, going to retrieve a ball from a substation, going near a body of water)… Bring it back! Kids clearly have no common sense.

  9. Fireworks aren’t really the problem here, it’s the increasing number of people who display anti-social behaviour and who lack any moral standards.

    Why would anyone think this kind of behaviour is acceptable is beyond me.

  13. Why are civilians allowed to purchase explosives? Organised supervised events im grudgingly in favour of. But, not any Tom, Dick(head), or Bazzer buying them.

  15. Took my sister and her mate to watch the fireworks last night down the beach, the council won’t put on a display so loads of people just come down and set their own off. Usually all okay, loads of families come down. Cue multiple fireworks going off on the ground.

    And then we watch some kids face and fingers get blown off right in front of us. To then find out another kid further down has had his fingers blown off. They were both 16/17.

    Stop letting the general public buy fucking fireworks. Needless to say we left early and will be finding something a bit more professional else next year.

  18. My sister was driving through Huyton last night and sent pictures of all the bonfires. The flames were higher than the houses. Fucking ridiculous. She also said there were gangs of kids everywhere.

  20. I’ve never understood the fascination with fireworks. Literally just a massive waste of money for 3 seconds of entertainment.

  21. Literally hold parents legally responsible for the actions of their children as though they were the ones that did it.

    We can’t have a complete abdication of responsibility just because of someone’s age. If parents let their children be feral street demons, they need to be held responsible for their actions in totality. It’s only once those shitty parents feel the actual consequences of their kids actions they might think about raising them not to be the utter dregs of society.

  23. Considering all the hoops you have to jump through for almost everything the fact that any muppet can go out and buy explosives is just a joke.

    No by all means lets worry about the porn, the dickheads with fireworks aren’t a problem.
