After its long-awaited return to the Contest following a year of absence, Moldova announced that it’s planning on hosting a new and modern national final.
As of today, November 7, TRM officially opened the submission window for Selecția Națională, the national final of Eurovision 2026 which will remain open until December 7.
The selection process will be divided in three stages:
examination of applications
live auditions
National Final
It is also highlighted that the songs must not be longer than three minutes, be original and not having been released before September 1st, 2026. Those interested should fill the application form, some statements of authenticity and attach the lyrics of their song and translation, as well as a small description of their staging concept.
Below you can read some of the rules of the selection process:
Contestants must be at least 16 years old (preferably 18+)
The main performer must hold Moldovan citizenship. Participation of foreign performers is allowed up to 50% of the act, in case of duo or group
Songs and performances must not contain political, offensive, religious, or commercial content
Contestants must attend all rehearsals and events organized by TRM
The winner is obliged to represent Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest. If they refuse, they must cover all TRM expenses incurred
TRM reserves the right to change the regulations or select a representative without a national final at any time if deemed necessary
Regarding the appeals that have taken place in Moldovan national finals in previous years, they may be submitted within 24 hours of the results being announced and TRM will review them within 72 hours.
The national final will take place in Arena Chișinău, on January 17. The winner will be determined by a combination of national jury vote, international jury vote and televote, at a rate of 1/3 each. Points will be given in Eurovision-style (1-8,10,12) and in case of a tie, the televote is the one that decides the results. In case of an absolute tie, TRM producers and officials make the final decision
We remind you that for the first time, the national selection will be coordinated by two official producers: Serghei Orlov, a seasoned producer with extensive Eurovision experience, and Roman Burlaca, a renowned Moldovan director and producer known for his collaborations with top local artists and contributions to the country’s modern music scene.
Moldova’s last participation was in 2024, when Natalia Barbu performed “In the Middle”, on the stage of Malmö, without managing to qualify for the Grand Final.
