At least four killed by Russian strikes in Ukraine • FRANCE 24 English

It’s a Russian drone that slammed into this residential building in Denipro, destroying several apartments. The strike was carried out in the middle of the night. Rescue forces evacuated residents, starting with those most seriously wounded. Among them, several children. Hours later, the cleanup was underway. Children were under the rubble. They were taken by ambulance to Meshnikov Hospital. They are now in intensive care. A shot had flew right over us and two or three minutes later it exploded. That’s it. We survived because we were on that side and it hit the third floor where they are now clearing the debris. Some 25 locations were struck overnight, including Harkiv to the north of Denipro, where an aerial attack wounded several people. This brought electricity cuts, businesses, and a gas station were damaged. Russia’s target was an energy facility. The region of Odessa was also among those hit. Strikes on power infrastructure caused power cuts. Russia has been targeting Ukraine’s energy grid in what Kev calls a weaponization of winter. Moscow says it only targets military and energy sites that serve Ukraine’s war efforts. Meanwhile, Ukraine has also hit Russia’s energy infrastructure in an effort to deprive Moscow of oil export revenue.

A Russian drone slammed into a tower block in eastern Ukraine early Saturday while many were sleeping, killing four and injuring 12 people, Ukrainian authorities reported. Shirli Sitbon has the latest.
