Peloton has issued a recall for nearly 45,000 bikes in Canada due to faulty seat posts that could cause riders to fall during a workout.

The recall affects 44,800 Peloton machines sold in Canada and 833,000 machines sold in the U.S. between 2020 through April 2025.

The Original Series Bike+ seat post assembly can break during use, posing fall and injury hazards to the user, Health Canada said in a notce issued Thursday.

The affected exercise machines are for Peloton Original Series Bike+ units with model number PL02 and serial numbers beginning with the letter “T.”

There have been no reports of seat posts breaking in Canada, but there have been three reports of the seat post detaching from the bike during use in the U.S., including two reports of injuries due to a fall.

In the U.S., the products were sold at Peloton stores, Dick’s Sporting Goods and online sites. They retailed for about US$2,500 each.

Peloton said people with the bike should stop using them immediately and contact the company for a free replacement seat post that can be self-installed.

Users can contact the company at 1-833-821-0099 or online for questions about the recall or to obtain the replacement seat posts.

In 2023, Peloton recalled more than 108,000 bikes sold in Canada for a similar seat post issue.

No injuries were reported in Canada in that earlier recall. In the U.S., 35 people were affected, including 13 who reported injuries, including a fractured wrist, cuts and bruising, after the seat detached mid-ride, said the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
