WANA (Nov 10) – Israeli police and the Shin Bet domestic intelligence agency announced that a 27-year-old man from Tel Aviv has been arrested on charges of “contacting Iranian agents and carrying out espionage missions for Tehran.”

According to Israeli media, a joint statement from the police and Shin Bet claimed that the suspect “voluntarily contacted Iranian operatives through social networks and carried out several missions in exchange for payment.”

The statement alleged that the man took photographs of various sites, including the location of a rocket strike in Ramat Gan, the Tel Aviv Museum, and several other areas, and sent them to his Iranian contacts. Israeli security officials said he was paid “several thousand shekels in cryptocurrency” for these activities.

During Thursday’s raid on his home, Israeli security forces reportedly found 18 SIM cards that were allegedly used to communicate with Iranian agents.

However, reports indicate that after questioning, an Israeli court decided to release the suspect without placing him under house arrest.

Israeli media have previously reported the arrest of several individuals accused of spying for Iran. Some Israeli analysts have also spoken of what they describe as “increased Iranian intelligence activity inside Israel.”
