Paris: Two more charged over Louvre jewellery heist • FRANCE 24 English

[Music] Weeks after the Lou robbery, investigators are still trying to figure out who was present during the burglary and what role each person played. A 37year-old man has been charged and remanded in custody for organized theft. He’s suspected of being one of the four men in the gang that stole the crown jewels. A 38-year-old woman has also been charged and remanded in custody for complicity and criminal association. She appeared before a judge on Saturday. She’s devastated. She’s devastated because she disputes what I think she is accused of and does not understand her involvement at all. At least not the elements of the charges against her. The initial findings of the administrative inquiry have been made public by the Minister of Culture, Rashida Dati, and have been damning, claiming the risks of intrusion and theft have been structurally underestimated and equipment was outdated. The Minister of Culture has called for new security measures at the Louv, more modern and effective anti-intrusions systems, and anti-vehicle devices. These visitors do not understand why security is not more important given what happened. Yes, just a few days later, there should already be a little more presence already as a response. There are no cameras. It’s true. There is nothing at all. So yes, I don’t think it would be too much. At this stage, four suspects have been charged. Three people have been released. The home secretary said on Saturday that he was hopeful that the jury would be recovered.

Two more suspects, a man and a woman arrested this week over the jewel heist at the Louvre, have been charged and remanded in custody, prosecutors have said. The charges on Saturday brought to four the number of people now charged over the spectacular robbery. Daniel Quinlan and L. Nahon from France2 report.

  1. Those jewels will never be recovered, they been dismantled and sold in markets around the world, incompetent French can arrest as many people as they want, should’ve left security to strong 💪 USA

  2. About 95% of the jewels displayed in that museum were stolen by the French army during their brutal occupation of Africa.

  3. They could update their security to include cameras outside the building ! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤯🤯🤯
That’s all you need. If you have cameras ( and someone watching the feed ) then no successful robbery. Period.

And maybe one or two real security guards who aren’t afraid of intruders.
Instead they had, no doubt, minimum wage pretend security who normally sit in chairs or just watch that visitors don’t touch the paintings. 😢

  4. Yet, they release them again to commit more crimes. Nationals of Algeria, two about to board planes to Algeria and releasing the accomplices. These are serious crimes, why release them, they will just flee to Algeria. Where is there the justice?

  5. Keep them in prison forever until they talk and teciver the jewels, then have them serve long senrrnces and then expel them…

  6. The Louvre needs to be charged with receiving tainted goods, if you can charge someone for theft of already stolen goods. I honestly hope you never get them back & that they are no longer in tact so even if you get them back there just dimonds

  7. Monaco is laughing at France, their northern neighbor. A museum heist would never happen in Monaco, in fact there is no homelessness in Monaco. Monaco is like Singapore in many ways.

  8. Why don't policemen give each of them an injection telling the truth, and the problems will be solved out right away, no need to wait so long, saving time! The night is long and full of dreams.

  9. I don't belive they'll come back. Same story as with the gold Romanian crown stolen from Drents Museum in The Netherlands. Something that will happen more often in the future I fear.

  10. Easy to round up suspects, much harder to recover the damn jewels that you shouldn't have lost in the first place 🙉
