Benjamin Sesko, a striker for Manchester United, will miss Slovenia’s pivotal 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, although club officials do not believe he has a serious injury after Saturday’s 2-2 stalemate with Tottenham.
After being tackled by Micky van de Ven, Benjamin Sesko injured his knee and hobbled out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League match after just thirty minutes on the pitch.
Benjamin Sesko was not moving easily when he was seen leaving the ground without crutches. Moreover, head coach Ruben Amorim responded that there was a knee problem when asked if the problem was significant.
Amorim said, “You never know,” and added Sesko would need to be checked as it might affect his January transfer plans.
United are hopeful that Benjamin Sesko hasn’t suffered a serious knee injury
This raised concerns about a prolonged absence, which might even linger during the departure of defender Noussair Mazraoui and fellow forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo for the Africa Cup of Nations next month.
Although more testing at United’s Carrington training facility will be necessary to determine the exact extent of Sesko’s injury and the duration of his absence, the team is discreetly distancing itself from worries that the 22-year-old may be out for months.
Meanwhile, Sesko will miss Slovenia’s crucial games against Sweden and Kosovo, which they must win to have any hope of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup play-offs.

He is getting closer to making a comeback following significant knee surgery in February.
Amorim is keen to take it easy on the player who has suffered several chronic problems since joining from AFC Ajax in 2022, which is why he hasn’t yet included the defender in his matchday squad.
Martinez will gain from joining his international colleagues, according to United, especially since he won’t need much travel. Martinez is expected to travel alongside a member of United’s performance team while he is with the Argentina national team.
He picked up a knee injury.
United are yet to know the extent of his injury and how long he will be out.
He has scored two goals for them.
