The had obviously gotten in touch with the BBC to complain and threaten litigation. The BBC lawyer had told him not to worry about it. Her exact words were “ Fuck them we’re the BBC” That should be their attitude to this. The person responsible has been sacked that’s enough.
That’s a funny response sure, but BBC did directly tamper with the interview and frame it in such a way which would make it appear worse than it is.

Coincidentally, i know of another article a few years back that bbc news simply made up to toe the line with the government script. Interestingly, they got pulled up on that, and they hastily re-wrote it. More of a minor story, so there was no repercussions, but it does make you wonder how much it does go on.
The sheer amount of political delusion in this sub is crazyyy. The BBC is ought to be impartial, full stop. Whether you love or hate Trump, the BBC can’t manipulate its viewers like this and then preach about independent and unbiased journalism. They did a good piece on the lunchtime news about it. They are currently seeking understanding of the actual accusation and whether it in any way holds up in US court. Currently they say they have no evidence that the modified soundbite was authorised for broadcast in the US and if not, it’s not a viable accusation.
More money for the lawyers of course, but at least they seem to be dealing with it with common sense and not immediately grovelling like paramount and Disney did.
