It’s hard to stand up to someone while you’re grovelling on the ground!

  1. Trump literally said he wanted to end the shutdown showing he was about to break and a couple days later the eight traitors threw in the towel.

  2. In his defense it is difficult to stand up when you don’t have a spine.

  3. Totally unrelated… When in medieval times a city or castle was defending against a siege, the defenders were often **not winning** for months. In the end the only thing defenders could even achieve was **not losing**.

  4. Wild statement to make, for someone who did not actually stand up to Trump

  5. Fact is it WAS working. Even the Republicans acknowledged it was working because They Were getting the blame, not the Dems. All this did was prove they’re spineless, and that trump can just say “what are you gonna do about it?” knowing the answer is nothing.

    Primary Schumer. Deport Fetterman.

  6. GOP pretending to be Democrats. They are no more Democrats than the lunatic evangelicals are Christian.

  7. Republicans have been destroying the government all year. I don’t see how shutting it down applies any pressure on them.

  8. Hmm okay… and when has this “standing up” been claimed to have happened?

  9. Angus King is not a Democrat. He is registered independent.

  10. blame the democratic party. they made these people vote because they wont have an election for them in 2026. they were just scapegoats. democratic party needs to be culled.

  11. Standing up to trump didn’t work because he didn’t stand up to him

  12. It’s clear some states are not sending their best Democrats to Congress

  13. Don’t be fooled. They’re in this together. A kind of bipartisanship for the wealthy.

  14. You have to remember there’s a long chasm between the Democrats and AOC. While part of the same party they are not the same.

  15. I’m just going to keep saying this, Angus King has not been part of the democratic party since the 1980s and that was before he was even governor of Maine.

He shouldn’t be commenting on how they conduct themselves.

  16. I don’t get it. The OP is humorous. It’s factual and very fucking infuriating to say the least. Even in recent years, I’d give some of the 8 cowards, the benefit of the doubt (like Durbin, Kaine, King). But, like Biden was too old and had to go, it’s time for them to be humiliated; especially Schumer. He, single handily, has cost the democrats to win and move forward.

The democratic “coalition” is beyond archaic and is in desperate need of reform.

  17. I’m genuinely confused, was this or was it not a “Democrat shutdown”? Because if the actions of Democrats ended it by buckling then it was a Democrat shutdown right?

  18. Of course there’s no principled fight or righteous indignation, this spineless fucker was born in 1944…he’s 81 years old. Another old, rich, white guy plodding along as a supposed public servant. He and the others like Schumer are the faces of pathetic defeat. I guess they couldn’t just fade off into obscurity and will try to justify their weakness as some wise statesmanship…quite the opposite, fuckin’ cowards.

  19. I’m so sick of these feckless old fucks. Every single one of them needs to be primaried out and replaced with someone with an actual spine.

  20. I’m not donating another penny to the DNC until someone tougher than Schumer takes over the Senate leadership. I’m an old white lady who has given a LOT over the last 40 years, but no more. I’ll stick with individual candidates, and give money of NPR and food banks.

  21. Standing up and using the bill they want to pass as leverage didn’t work, so I will give them everything and take nothing and then beg them like a pauper!

  22. Poor Angus… He thinks that the “No Kings” protests are people who are mad at him.

  23. He was definitely sweating the air traffic controller situation and the upcoming holidays.

  24. A party that claims to oppose but instead facilitates a fascist, theocratic takeover of our Republic is not truly an opposition. It is a counterfeit opponent designed to create a false illusion of choice and democracy.

  25. Sorry but he’s right, it was never going to work. The republicans are sociopaths who do not care if people suffer and die. They weren’t going to budge one way or another. Dems did the right thing choosing to feed people and get their paychecks out. Now republicans have to go on record denying health insurance to millions.

  26. This guy did a CNN interview yesterday morning.

His reasoning was worse than this meme.

  27. Wonder how .any of them are in the epstien files? Maybe that’s why they rolled over.

  28. Dems just cleaned house in the recent election and americans were blaming Republicans for the shutdown. So yes it was working. The donors wanted the shutdown over and corporate dems didnt want the filibuster to go away because then they would actually have to do things people wanted. Its all political theater.

  29. ![gif](giphy|1P00ZTh1zpww2bnT2v|downsized)

How they think of standing up to Trump…

  30. Here’s the most infuriating thing though – this piece of shit is LYING.

IT DID WORK. It was fucking working. Outside the MAGA cult, Americans overwhelmingly blamed Republicans. They got their shit pushed in during the elections. Trump’s approval rating was at an all-time low (and with Trump that’s REALLY saying something.)

People were pissed and the vast majority of that anger was directed at the GOP. Everything was working and the Dems were only building up more and more leverage. And they just pissed it all away in a matter of minutes.

Now Republicans can say “see, we told you it was all a political game and look, they ended the shutdown right after the elections just like they always planned” and people will believe that shit because if you’re not the type of person to follow politics closely and focus on the details that’s exactly what this looks like.

  31. I’m learning this was actually a somewhat smart move. It will force Republicans to vote on extending the subsidies in a separate vote in December, so they will take all of the blame if they don’t pass it. It also allows Adelita Grijalva to be sworn in and be the final vote to release the Epstein files before the person who would invalidate her vote gets sworn in in January. It also kept Trumps wish of ending the filibusters from happening. I’m not saying I wasn’t pissed and disappointed at first, but Heather Cox Richardson and a few other politically savvy people have explained this and it makes sense. It seems kinda planned as well since the 8 people who voted to pass the budget are not up for reelection, so they have nothing to lose when it comes to pissing off voters.
