The Croatian National Bank (HNB) continues to provide free exchange of kuna cash for euros.

Kuna banknotes can be exchanged without a time limit, while kuna coins may be exchanged until 31 December 2025, HNB said in a statement on Wednesday.

Exchanges are carried out at the HNB headquarters, Nikole Jurišića 17, Zagreb, from Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 15:30, or by post for amounts up to 14,999.99 kuna, sent at the sender’s own risk.

Exchanges are made at the fixed conversion rate of 1 euro = 7.53450 kuna.

Postal deliveries should be sent to:
Hrvatska narodna banka, Direkcija za pohranu, obradu i opskrbu gotovim novcem, Trg hrvatskih velikana 3, 10000 Zagreb.

Amounts of 15,000 kuna or more must be exchanged in person. For large deliveries exceeding 40,000 kuna or 1,000 coins, visitors must notify HNB in advance at [email protected].

HNB also replaces damaged or stained euro banknotes and unsuitable euro coins according to EU and Croatian regulations.

Exchanges are accepted in person or by post for amounts up to 1,000 euros. Larger sums require prior notification at [email protected].

Damaged euro notes resulting from theft-prevention dye packs can be replaced upon submission of proof from the Ministry of the Interior or relevant documentation.

A fee of 10 cents per note applies if 100 or more such banknotes are exchanged, except when damage occurred due to a criminal act.

For more information or assistance, contact [email protected] or visit the HNB website.
