Trump’s DOE may soon force more coal plants to stay open – an unprecedented intervention in the private power sector that is making energy more expensive for Americans. Critics fear the administration’s true goal is not to ensure grid reliability, but to unilaterally carry out a political agenda.

  1. See JH Campbell in Michigan. Stuck open since July when it was going to close. Waste of money

  2. My initial reaction is that this is a really stupid idea, but then I recall the other really stupid ideas and this one is just in the the same pack. Just a normal really stupid idea.

  3. As much as this whole stupid administration loathes the idea of climate science, I don’t think it’s a political agenda.

I just think he likes the idea of coal mines existing as his world view of what “America” is to him.

  4. Small government right? Let the market decide? Then cut off renewables and add even more to the already ridiculous fossil fuel subsidies. This back to the past energy policy is good for the donors but for the country in the future it will put them at a huge disadvantage on new energy.

This is what maga wants. Unless enough voters (yes presuming elections are not so tilted it doesn’t matter) get them out it is what will be the norm.

  5. Love it when the government picks winners and losers!
