  3. One big difference for this cold war. There are more than two sides, not just China and the US, also the emergence of Artificial Super intelligence (ASI) that many AI researchers have been warning about. It is not science fiction, it is a real existential threat.

    Both China and the US are competing fiercely that many corners in alignment (with human values) were cut. It is especially a big issue in Chinese systems like Deepseek that many misalignments and hallucinations were already reported, possibly due to rushing the development to catch up with the US.

    The worst case is not either China or the US dominates, but a rogue but powerful ASI.
