LEXINGTON, Ky. – Postseason competition is set to continue for the Kentucky Wildcats, with a trip to Charlottesville, Va. on the horizon for the NCAA Southeast Regional on Friday.
Following an eighth-place finish in both the men’s and women’s races at the SEC Championships, five Wildcats were listed in the conference’s postseason awards announcement on Nov. 3. Freshman Doricah Minsari Isoe led the way for the Cats by earning All-SEC Second Team and All-Freshman, along with Janet Jepkemboi Amimo placing 21st at the championships and earning Third Team All-SEC.
On the men’s side, junior Ed Bird and sophomore Collins Kiprop Kingok were named to the All-SEC Third Team and freshman Levi Kipkurui Bichii received SEC All-Freshman Team honors.
This week, the Cats will be competing against in-state programs Bellarmine, Eastern Kentucky, Louisville, Morehead State, Murray State, Northern Kentucky and Western Kentucky, as well as South Carolina and ACC programs Clemson, Duke, North Carolina, NC State, Virginia and Wake Forest.
The NCAA Southeast Regional is scheduled to begin tomorrow morning from Charlottesville, Va. at 10 a.m. ET with the women’s 6k race, followed by the men’s 8k event at 11 a.m. ET.
