WANA (Nov 14) – Don Rogers, head of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), claimed that the agency has thwarted several “potentially lethal threats” allegedly linked to Iran over the past year.
Speaking while presenting CSIS’s annual report on Canada’s security challenges, Rogers said: “We were concerned enough over the past year to prioritize operations aimed at countering activities by Iranian intelligence services and their proxies targeting individuals in Canada.”
He added that in “more than one instance,” CSIS had identified, investigated, and disrupted threats that he described as “potentially deadly” against people inside Canada.
In another part of his remarks, Rogers said Russian procurement networks had attempted to illegally obtain Canadian goods and technologies.
He noted that CSIS intervened by informing several Canadian companies about European-based front firms allegedly linked to Russian operatives, preventing the transfer of those materials.
