WANA ( Nov 14) – The Iranian national volleyball team claimed the championship of the Islamic Solidarity Games after defeating Turkey in the final held in Riyadh on Thursday night, November 13. The victory marked Iran’s fifth consecutive title in the tournament and secured the ninth gold medal for the Iranian delegation in this edition of the Games.

 

In the final match, Iran achieved a 3–1 win with set scores of 25–20, 25–20, 17–25, and 25–17, earning its sixth straight victory in the competition. Earlier in the preliminary round, Iran had defeated Bahrain, Qatar, Turkey, Chad, and Saudi Arabia, advancing to the final as the group leader with five wins and 14 points.

 

Iran’s roster for the tournament included Amirhossein Sadati, Alireza Abdolhamidi, Alireza Mosleh-Abadi Farahani, Pouya Aryakhah, Seyed Isa Naseri, Ali Ramazani (captain), Ehsan Daneshdoost, Arshia Behnejad, Ali Hajipour, Yousef Kazemi, Amirreza Aftab-Azari, and Mohammadreza Hazratpour. The team was coached by Peyman Akbari, with Isa Sangdovini (team manager), Ali Fattahi (coach), and Ali Souri Katouli (analyst) as part of the technical staff.

 

In the final standings of the men’s competition, Iran, Turkey, Bahrain, Qatar, and Chad ranked first to fifth, respectively. In the women’s tournament, Iran secured the bronze medal by defeating Tajikistan, while Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan finished in the top five.
