That petition probably has more signatures than people who have a positive view of Keir …
What’s exactly wrong with this? Won’t it crank down on illegal migrants working illegally?
They’ll quickly dismiss this and force through the Authoritarianism.
So they can tell you no a second time
Am I the only one that thought the first reply of “No” was absolutely bonkers ? At least they are going to talk about it now.
And they will say no, but doesn’t it feel like you had agency, such a joke to even pretend this is a democracy
What’s wrong with them?
I have a feeling a lot more have signed it, i signed it but never received a confirmation email, I can’t be the only one.
I don’t think a Government should be able to do anything big like this that wasn’t in their manifesto. I understand sometimes you get unforeseen challenges, such as pandemics, disasters, or wars, that can’t be planned ahead of time and included in a manifesto, but this doesn’t fit that description. It’s sneaky, is what it is. Authoritarian, and undemocratic in nature.
Parliament says no….
Really don’t get the issue with this- many European countries have ID card systems. British exceptionalism?
In other countries that have Digital ID cards, it’s integrated very well and is mightily convenient.
Currently you have to carry around a driving license to get ID’d at a pub, but just having it on your phone will be easier.
I don’t get the argument for it being prone to being used maliciously by government, because they already have a database of my passport and identification cards, and soon they’ll have my fingerprints. If they want to sell my data or “control” me in some way, they could literally do that already.
So many countries with democracy have ID cards, literally the whole Europe, and if anything citizens have more rights in Europe than they have in the UK.
Every response for the last year to these petitions has been a variation of “We already debated this & decided we are already doing enough”
This petition could be signed by the vast majority of the country and it still wouldn’t matter.
The government does not give a shit.
Can somebody pleaee explain to me why they dont like Digital ID? I see a lot of people freaking out over authoritarianism but no one actually explain why this is authoritarian
you need TV license to watch it live ?
We have to go through our GP’s online
We have to payslips are online
Numerous other countries have rolled this out.
I don’t get the push back
Sorry I know 3 million is a high numbers but compared to the actual population it is but a drop of water.
Though a drop of water continuously does cause erosion ifs exactly what these 3 million are doing!
I’m tired of your bullshit. This number represents nothing and isn’t worth being debated. Facts
Anyone in the world can sign this, I wonder how many Russian bots signed up to this. If only there was a way to properly identify someone digitally…..
A debate on how to best tell the public to go fuck themselves.
And they will do nothing about it labour are a disgrace they will go through with it
Can’t wait for this to go tits up and then we’ve got Keir Starmer scranning a cock in 2 years time with Stacey Slater asking him where the money went
*and then everyone clapped*
This is one of my favourite ideas and makes me a bit annoyed that it also happens to be the least popular policy in the world
Thrown in the bin with the other 100%
We have learned that the petitions do not work.
We need to begin legal proceedings against these draconian new laws.
