MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — The Maryville police officer critically-injured in a crash during a police motorcade escort for Vice President JD Vance has been identified.
Field Training Officer Justin Brown is identified on Saturday as the victim by the Maryville Police Department who collided with a Tennessee Highway Patrol SUV unit just after 6 p.m. Friday night in East Tennessee. He underwent surgery on Saturday morning at UT Hospital for “significant injuries.”
A group of citizens on the scene who immediately administered urgent first aid to Brown played a critical role in saving the life of the officer, said MPD Chief Tony Crisp.
“To those individuals whose quick response saved FTO Brown’s life last night, we could never thank you enough. You are true heroes,” said Chief Crisp.
THP is investigating the crash.
