Pretty soon, briefings from the Sussex camp began wafting into journalists’ inboxes. The couple, it was said, had been presented with consent forms before the party and had ticked the “no social media” box. The implication was that someone on Kim and Kris’s social team had made a mistake posting the images, and had now simply honored their clearly stated wishes and removed them.

The Sussexes’ shambolic operation had underestimated how ruthlessly efficient the Kardashians’ one is. Reps for the family flatly told anyone who asked that no such forms existed. There were no consent forms, they said. None. Why the rapid rebuttal? Because their team understands that when people lie about teeny-tiny things, the mind naturally wanders to what they might do when the stakes are higher.

When reporters went back to the Sussex camp to clarify how this squared with the previous narrative, the shutters came down. The talkative sources abruptly stopped talking. There would be no further comment on this ridiculous little flap.

  1. Lol. I don’t like Kris Jenner but the lady is a master at PR and the last thing I’d do is start a PR war with her by releasing some BS information after she already did them a solid by removing the pics of them at the Oligarch Ball. I can see why they’ve lost so many PR people…they are incredibly inept at it and appear to never take the advice of professionals.

  2. Honestly, this is the most accurate thing ever written about them.

“Instead, the couple have an incredible knack of presenting their asses for a good kicking, while reinforcing the harshest critiques of them: brittle sensitivity, chronic over-calculation, and a self-sabotaging, dishonest relationship with the truth in the service of their own myth-making.”

  3. I swear, if they’d just let the photos stay up there would have been way less attention on them than the deletion story. They’re Streisand Effecting themselves as every twist reminds us that they were at that party when it could have been out of the news by now.

  4. So, everything Tom Sykes says about William and Charles is not true, but this unconfirmed gossip about Harry and Meghan is 100% accurate?

  5. they learned the hard way – do not mess with Kris Jenner!

As the late Queen said when presented with the Sussex version of events – recollections may vary

  6. I thought it was interesting that with the photos and the schedule, once the other sides refuted, the Sussex camp didnt have anything else to say once asked. The PR is just so sloppy.

  7. The smarter play is obvious in retrospect. Arrive at the Bezos/Jenner bash quietly via the private entrance; accept that some images would get out; and let the story be a simple one: they’re still in the Hollywood mix. Make the Toronto trip, issue a worthy statement about veterans and sport, and say nothing at all about who was or wasn’t warned in advance.

Instead, the couple have an incredible knack of presenting their asses for a good kicking, while reinforcing the harshest critiques of them: brittle sensitivity, chronic over-calculation, and a self-sabotaging, dishonest relationship with the truth in the service of their own myth-making.

Harry and Meghan’s nightmare seven days did not just give their enemies fresh material; it exposed how fragile the central premise of their post-royal lives has become.

  8. This is such a weird defense of going to that party. The problem is that they went at all. Most people aren’t going to give a 💩if the Kardashians did or didn’t honor some agreement about keeping your presence at the party secret or not.

  9. I fucking called it. The sussexes tried to claim that the K camp fucked up by posting photos and the K team pushed back like “no the fuck we did not”

It was 100% a Streisand effect — the Sussexes trying to get photos taken down made this a much bigger story.

  10. Kardashians looking more professional than the Sussexes.   What a day.

I just don’t understand Meghan. She has (had?) a lot going for her, but it’s like she’s TRYING to systematically destroy goodwill.

  11. We will see if this ends up on an episode of the Kardashian’s reality show. There was never an official explanation from either the Sussexes or Kardashians about why the photos were deleted. Both camps shut down after the consent article which is very unusual for everyone involved.

  12. I mean the Kardashians are known for making anyone who enters their establishments or participated in their show or filming or events to sign nda and these consent forms so they can control the narrative. I fully believe the Sussex. Kim’s own friends have complained of the annoyance of having to sign crap just to come over for tea. I believe they all had to file forms agreeing to the events rules and probably waivers so no one can sue anyone. To think they dont sign anything for a karfsshian party is wild. I dont care about the Sussex in this story, but the Kardashians absolutely make everyone sign forms prior to entry

  13. The Sussexes have a pretty well established history of being loosey goosey with the truth and I’m cackling that it’s a tiff with the fucking Kardashians that is exposing them for their tendency to lie or misrepresent facts.

  14. Tom Sykes is just excited that a real person actually spoke to him, finally.

  15. The fact that after the Kardashians came out and said nah there were no forms, there was no reply…tells me this is likely true. Sussexes didn’t think the Kardashijenners would come right out and say they lied, but if there is one thing the Kardashians always have it’s the audacity.

  16. Harry and Meghan’s behavior has even disappointed their biggest fans. This was a PR disaster

  17. And THIS is what everyone is talking about when it was Kris’ birthday. 70 is a big one. They’re shameless.

  18. Let me get that straight, they want to go to a party and mingle with the crowd, but they don’t want the public to know they’re mingling with the crowd? That’s just odd.
