What do we have in Helsinki?

  1. Haven’t been to any truly bad expensive restaurants, but Särkänlinna I feel is overpriced. It’s a neat location so you kind of pay extra for that for food that doesn’t really justify the price alone. Also they keep on bringing you bread and water but then charge you separately for that too at the end.

  2. Tomi Bjorck has got the market cornered.

Edit: To be fair I did quite like boon nam but the service was fucking awful.

  3. oh boy

Ravintola Salutorget and Ravintola Kuurna aren’t exactly “bad” but they’re among the most expensive restaurants in the city with just ok food. a lot of it is quite bland, the portions are TINY and you can find the same food with better taste at lower prices elsewhere

  4. Farang is a restaurant I’ll never visit again. Staff was all snooty at us for not ordering the full menu. We ordered specific items from the a la carte. Then they messed up our order and sides for the mains came in time for desert. And still it was very expensive and the waiter offered the tip option with the bill.

Edit: Food was really good tho. But for the price the experience should be better. And if you HAVE an al a carte option don’t make a fuss about ordering from it.

  5. Marski hotel restaurant, I once had a burger there some 25e and it was the most bland burger I have ever had. Crispy chicken from burger king is more tasty and this is not an exaggeration

  6. When it was my birthday once I wanted to try Kämp hotel’s restaurant. Even though the table had been reserved long in advance we had to sit outside. My birthday was in December. And the food wasn’t remarkable either

  7. Worst dining experience I’ve had in Helsinki was in Shelter. Food was okay at best, service was slow, menu was quite limited with options and me and my girlfriend’s desserts were served 25 minutes apart without even an apology or explanation from the staff.

  8. I haven’t really had any truly “bad” experiences with fancier Helsinki restaurants. We have a lot of really terrible Nepalese restaurants but they aren’t expensive.

  9. Worst food ive had was at Chapula. Not particularry expensive but tasted absolutely horrible.

  10. Sandro, a colleague recommended it so we went there, everyone of us absolutely hated it, it’s not expensive though

  11. Most restaurants in Helsinki are ‘overpriced’ on the experience ratios. I’ve experienced a lot of feeling ripped off, but not so much ‘bad’ food. Also not have very good experiences with Chinese cuisine, very very finnicized, I always think it’s because Finns typically would never complain for an easy life, so a poorer end product is acceptable.

  12. The obvious contender is Café Veronica close to Seurasaari, but I think they may have closed.
