  1. In a policy paper published on Monday, the Home Office said ‘hesitancy’ around deporting families with children was creating ‘perverse incentives’ for asylum seekers to put children on small boats across the English Channel.

    Under current rules, the department does not typically deport failed asylum seekers if they have children under the age of 18, but continues to offer them support. However, officials said they would consult on denying state support to such families and ‘enforcing the removal of families, including children’.

  5. I think we are a massively tolerant society and will do the right thing but unfortunately we also hate people taking the piss and sadly we have very much strayed into the piss taking territory. If the outcome of all this is a sensible operational asylum policy that helps facilitate integration then I’m all for it.

  10. The wording of all of these articles make it sound like labour are simultaneously paying these asylum seekers millions to leave, and also sending children back alone and leaving them destitute.

  11. I love my country! We let our elderly die of cold in winter, refuse to feed hungry kids, and now we make it a priority to deport the children 😎

    But hey, as long as the brown man is more downthrodden than me then all is good 😎

    Please beloved MPs make sure to cut social services to pay for your holidays and the heating of your second homes 🙌🏽

  17. It is a harsh kindness to reject boat migrants. By rewarding their risk you give them more reason to gamble children dying as they travel the final stretch. France has let too many children die by not fulfilling their own legal duties, the least we can do is not encourage it further.
