A 55-year-old woman was struck by a train close to Dommeldange station on Monday evening. Emergency services personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.
The public prosecutor’s office was informed and took charge of the investigation. An autopsy has been ordered.
Rail traffic on Line 10 between Luxembourg and Mersch was interrupted in both directions from about 18:30 until shortly before 20:00, with replacement buses filling in for trains. The CFL released a statement at 18:45 about the disruption, but did not mention the cause at the time.
A level crossing next to Dommeldange station was permanently closed to traffic in the summer and a new underpass for pedestrians and cyclists is under construction. In the meantime, pedestrians and cyclists must take a short detour to use the station’s own underpass.
