VORONOVO DISTRICT, 20 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian side is conducting border clearance for individuals and vehicles at the border with Lithuania in both directions, Press Secretary of the State Border Committee of Belarus Anton Bychkovsky, told journalists, BelTA has learned.
“Today at 1.00 a.m. Minsk time, the Lithuanian authorities opened two border checkpoints with the Republic of Belarus: Šalčininkai (Benyakoni on the Belarusian side) and Medininkai (Kamenny Log on the Belarusian side),” Anton Bychkovsky said.
He added that the official notification from the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service under the Ministry of the Interior was received by the State Border Committee of Belarus on the evening of 19 November 2025.
“The Belarusian side is conducting border clearance for individuals and vehicles in both directions,” Anton Bychkovsky stated.
On 29 October, the Lithuanian government decided to close two border checkpoints on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border until 30 November. Traffic through the Šalčininkai checkpoint (Benyakoni on the Belarusian side) was completely halted, while there were exceptions for certain groups of individuals who were permitted to pass through the Medininkai checkpoint (Kamenny Log on the Belarusian side).
Previously, on 18 November, Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė stated that the National Security Commission recommended reopening these checkpoints ahead of schedule.
