From the beginning of November, Tesla sales in Norway have been recovering from the drop felt in October.

Daily registrations in the Nordic contry have reached a new record in over two and a half years on Tuesday.

According to data tracker and X user Roland Pircher, the company sold 528 units in a single day, the highest value since March 27, 2023.

Tesla Norway went from the worst quarter in the last five quarters to the best in just eight days,” the user had also written in an X post on Monday, adding that registrations had surpassed 400 units.

Data from platform EU-EVs showed that a total of 423 Tesla vehicles were sold on November 17. In the previous week, figures show that over 200 units were sold daily.

Between November 1 and 18, a total of 2,405 vehicles were registered in the Norwegian market, which indicates that, in just 18 days sales, have already tripled from October’s 678 units.

Subsidy Cuts in 2026

In the Norwegian market, where EVs represented 97.4% of new vehicles in October, Tesla had a 6% market share.

Norway, one of the wealthiest countries in the world thanks to its oil and gas reserves in the North Sea, set an ambitious target of having all new vehicles sold by the end of 2025 to be fully electric or hybrid.

Soon after the country reached a record 98.3% of new vehicle sales being electric, Norway announced plans to eliminate subsidies for these cars.

The Norwegian government plans to begin collecting VAT on several versions of mid-market vehicles starting from 2026.

The price threshold that qualifies for the exemption will drop from NOK 500,000 (€42,630) to NOK 300,000 (€25,580), with the VAT exemption to be completely removed by 2027.

Updated Lineup + Discounts

In early October, Tesla launched the Standard version of the Model Y in Europe, just two days after its US debut.

The vehicle’s price now starts at NOK 389,990 — while the Premium, Long Range iteration is priced from NOK 469,990.

Its Model 3 sedan is priced from NOK 324,990.

The prices indicate that none of Tesla models will be qualified for the VAT exemption from January 1, which could explain the increase in demand.

Tesla is currently offering 0% APR on its Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive iteration and all Model 3 variants. The promotion is valid until December 31, 2025.

Previous Months

After achieving its best result in two and a half years in September, Tesla saw a sharp drop both sequentially and year over year in October.

Data published by the Norwegian Road Federation (OFV) showed that the company registered 671 vehicles last month, a 86.1% decline sequentially, as sales are typically lower in the first month of each quarter.

For the first time since March, monthly registrations also declined from a year ago, halving from the 1,348 vehicles registered in October 2024.

In June, Tesla registered 5,646 vehicles in Norway, the highest monthly sales year to date and since March 2023.
