MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Zimbabwe have confirmed their readiness to bring relations to a strategic level. This was stated during a meeting between Belarusian Foreign Affairs Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Zimbabwe to Belarus Ignatius Graham Mudzimba, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The diplomats discussed current matters of Belarus-Zimbabwe cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of agreements reached during highest-level visits, including the third phase of Zimbabwe’s farm mechanization program, joint projects in industrial cooperation and healthcare, and the expansion of mutual trade.

The parties reaffirmed their commitment to bringing relations to a strategic level, in line with the comprehensive roadmap for cooperation and partnership for 2026-2030. This document was signed in May 2025 during the visit of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa to Belarus. At that time, the leaders of both countries agreed to establish a commission at the level of heads of state.

“It will become a highest-level strategic mechanism to coordinate the work of existing joint commissions and committees,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said following the talks. The corresponding draft agreement is expected to be prepared ahead of his return visit to Zimbabwe.
