Hadong County has begun restoring Mudangbawi Rock, once a central cultural site, to its original form as part of a broader effort to revitalize Songnim Park in Gwangpyeong-ri.
The park, home to a dense pine forest planted in 1745 by Commissioner Jeon Cheon-sang to shield residents from river winds, is designated Natural Monument No. 445 and remains one of Hadong’s most iconic landscapes.
As part of the restoration, the county removed sections of the Naksooyeon stone wall that had buried Mudangbawi Rock, returning the landmark to a recognizable height and width and restoring its symbolic presence.
Improvements to Songnim Park also include a new stream, expanded shaded rest areas, and additional tree plantings.
The newly built Harmony ICT Tower connects Songnim Park with Hadong Park and features an observatory overlooking the pine forest and the Seomjin River.
Nearby, the recently opened Byeolcheonji Comic Cafe has become a popular gathering place, offering visitors a space to relax, read, and enjoy refreshments while experiencing the renewed park environment.
