Mbappé sues former club Paris Saint-Germain for €263 million in damages • FRANCE 24 English

An army of lawyers arrive at Paris’s labor court for a legal dispute unlike any other. Football superstar Keian Mbappe has sued his former club PSG for 263 million in damages. France captain claims PSG owes him 55 million, a sum made up of three months of unpaid wages and the final third of his signing on fee for a 2-year contract extension signed in 2022. Mbappé, who joined Real Madrid last summer on a free transfer, is also suing the league on giants over how the club treated him during his last season in Paris. He was young. He’s still very young and he was very young at the time. In any case, there is a balance of power between an employer and their employee. Whatever the sums of money at stake, whatever his salary, he obviously remains at the mercy of his employer. For their part, PSG has counter sued Mbappe for €240 million. Relations began to sour at the start of the 2023 2024 campaign where the 26-year-old refused to trigger an optional extra season in his contract. Mbappe found himself isolated from the first team during the transfer window. PSG says that Mbappe agreed to forego a sum of money from the end of his contract in a verbal agreement which subsequently allowed for his return to the squad. PSG regrets that it’s come to this for a player it valued. The club always believed that Mbappe would respect their agreement, but unfortunately that was not the case. The Real Madrid stars legal team say there is no tangible proof of that agreement. A decision from the Labour Court is not expected for at least a few weeks.

Kylian Mbappé sued Paris Saint-Germain on Monday for €263 million in damages after the club demanded €240 million from the French striker as compensation for an aborted transfer following a €300 million offer from the Saudi club Al Hilal, which the player declined in July 2023. Selina Sykes reports.

  1. Where does that kind of money come from? I dont get how it makes business sense to pay them so.much money. I dont get it.

  2. How can a big club like PSG be so bad at business? Why wasn't all agreements written in contract instead of he said she said word of mouth? How can a club in modern days think they can cattle players to wherever they want to send them? PSG need to honour whats in contract by paying the player and move on. No one wants to work for free… in case PSG doesn't know slavery days are over

  3. Y’all in the comments talking about he’s salty after his move and psg won just talk about anything without looking into it. The team owed him millions of dollars after he moved to Real Madrid and they refused to pay him. It was part of his contract agreement when he was with psg. Now he’s suing them because they broke their contract agreement which is definitely something everyone should do.

  4. To everyone complaining about Mbappe. I wonder what you would do, if someone owe you even $1million. I doubt you would forgive them. 😂

  5. Never enough is it. These people are devoid of morale and live a sheltered life away from the streets and real people.

  6. Verbal agreements? Qatar probably offered him some top notch hoes they couldn't put in the contract. Knowing mbappe, those hoes had balls too

  7. Psg is going to lose. They don't want to pay him what he is owed because they are salty he didn't stay. He doesn't have to. He could have said he would then changed is mind. Psg will still pay because what counts is the signed contract.
