President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the newly appointed Minister of Defense of Lithuania Robertas Kaunas, who arrived in Ukraine for the first time after his appointment. The parties discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation in the defense sector and Vilnius’ support for Ukraine.

This was reported by the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

Kaunas assured that Lithuania will continue to support Ukraine as long as necessary. Zelensky informed the minister about the diplomatic situation and opportunities for ending the war, as well as spoke about the current defense needs of our country.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for joint defense production. The President thanked Lithuania for its participation in the PURL initiative and its contribution to the purchase of American weapons, including PAC-3 missiles to strengthen Ukrainian air defense. Separately, they discussed the possibilities of cooperation within the framework of the SAFE instrument, which is aimed at strengthening the defense of Europe and Ukraine.

As previously reported, Lithuania has transferred a new aid package to Ukraine to restore its energy infrastructure.

Recall that the Netherlands is ready to provide Ukraine with an additional 1-1.5 billion euros for the production of drones this year.
