No “28-point plan” will work unless Putin and his allies believe the West is serious. That means stronger military aid for Ukraine, real power to strike Russia’s war machine, and tougher economic consequences for those who fund Putin’s aggression.

1. Ceding land would almost certainly require a national referendum for Ukrainians. Not only would that not fly with most Ukrainians but it’s impossible to do during martial law. This Russian fever dream is a complete non-starter and if the Orange Swine understood or considered even an iota of what he’s dealing with here, he wouldn’t be such an international embarrassment. I guess that’s too much to ask from a US president these days.
