Karol Nawrocki is ideologically aligned with the US president, but not on this
Poland is one of the European countries that has been helping Ukraine the most since the beginning of the large-scale Russian invasion in 2022.
Trump betrays Ukraine with a ‘peace plan’ that rewards Russia for invading that country
Ukraine, an admirable patriotism that puts Western patriotism to the test
In the first few weeks of the war alone, Poland took in more than 2 million Ukrainian refugees, the vast majority of whom were women and children fleeing the invasion. Likewise, Poland sent Ukraine a large amount of food and humanitarian aid, in addition to abundant military aid equivalent to 1.1% of Poland’s GDP (US military aid is equivalent to 0.53% of its GDP).
After the release yesterday of Trump’s “peace plan” for Ukraine, in reality an attempt to make it capitulate to the invaders by largely accepting the demands of Vladimir Putin’s dictatorship, Polish President Karol Nawrocki, a conservative politician and ideologically very close to Trump, published a message expressing his disagreement with the US president’s plan, without mentioning him by name. expressly, but referring to some of his arguments:
“The emerging proposals to end Russia’s war against Ukraine must take into account the fact that Russia is a country that does not honor agreements.
Each and every peace plan aimed at ending the war in Ukraine started by the Russian Federation must be accepted in Kyiv. It is Ukraine that has fallen victim to Putin’s criminal aggression, and it is the Ukrainians, with the support of the United States and the EU countries, who must have the decisive voice in peace talks.
Any arrangements concerning peace and security of Europe can only be made with the participation of all interested parties.
The price of peace cannot in any way be the achievement of strategic goals by the aggressor, and the aggressor was and is the Russian Federation.”
This morning, the President of Ukraine wrote a message thanking Nawrocki for his support. On August 24, Zelenki had already expressed his gratitude to Poland in response to a message from Nawrocki on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day. The Ukrainian President noted at the time:
“Poland is our reliable ally and strategic partner, which has shown the highest level of solidarity in the most difficult times for Ukraine in our fight against Russia’s full-scale aggression. We have always been united by our shared aspiration for freedom, independence, and a dignified European future for our peoples.”
So far, in addition to Poland and following the announcement of Trump’s plan to force Ukraine to capitulate, the Ukrainian people have already received the support of the presidents and governments of Germany, United Kingdom, France, Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Spain, Romania, Moldova, the European Commission and the European Council.
