  1. Is it the centuries of hate between the two people groups? I bet it’s that.

  2. around late 1800s the Chinese were declining solely due to self weakness from complacency, incompetence, corruption. Korea was having a peasant rebellion and asked for assistance from its overlord China. Japan also sent troops but with the intention to steal Korea for itself…something several decades in the making. this was a complete upset to Sinocentric dominance in East Asia and was a total and utter humiliation to China…which of course they could do nothing about because of their own weakness. after Japan successfully upset the regional order in Korea, Russia was taking advantage of China on the other borders. so the once dominant imperial power was now the object of imperialism on multiple sides. this did trigger much identity crisis in China, which is of course no one else’s problem except their own.

but it was the second Sino Japan war that really made Chinese hate the Japanese. the sheer amount of atrocities committed by the Japs would make it seem like there was some ancient blood grudge between them, but it was solely Japan’s expansionist goals hitting an easy target with unnecessary cruelty. this war was also at the same time as WWII and was essentially the Asian side of it. at first they were humiliated but now China was completely prostrate and face down in the mud. and guess who comes in to take advantage again…Russia. The Soviets basically went into Chinese Manchuria and stole a whole bunch of shit. land, equipment, things China needed to rebuild.

Fast forward to today and relations are much better. On one hand the Soviets made some calculated concessions, the Chinese became ideologically aligned via Communism, and both became aligned against the West from the actual Korean War. and of course USSR collapsed which allowed more reset. Meanwhile Japan got a massive overhaul and free get out of jail card after the bomb.

so it’s a long history of China wanting to right a past humiliation and become centre and never lose it ever again, a Japan who did unprovoked atrocity while creating that bad memory for her, Russia opportunistically raping her every chance it got and playing the whole East Asia against themselves whenever possible, and a poor Korea in the middle of it all.

and Japan really did well for itself in modern lens mostly because it fully embraced the new world order. but now there is a leader who is okay to rekindle past fires as if it is the 1900s again. not productive for Japan and quite stupid strategically and of course also tactically if it’s just because of the tourism problem.

if you want to go deep I recommend Sarah Paine.

  3. It’s getting fairly predictable at this point every time it’s a female foreign leader.

  4. China is becoming the crying baby on the airplane. Something wake him up, and he cries for days. Their state media is absolutely losing it… Look at any of the profiles, and they are posting about this 10-15 times a day still, a week later.

Nothing the Japan PM said was factually wrong.

  5. Xi is by any metric a poor leader. Based on the economy, based on diplomacy and advancing China’s strategic interests. He is a dictator and probably is surrounded by yes men like most dictators do. And apparently he is not bright enough to realize that surrounding youself with yes men when you yourself are not smart enough to correctly evaluate the effects of your actions. The economy is the worst its been, unemployment is high, things as of yet are not getting dramatically better. He is the architect of wolf warrior diplomacy of which this is more. I watched as Xi started this and thought to myself, ironically, thank god, China is not going to advance interests like this quite the opposite. So far the results seem to indicate I am right more or less. And yet they continue with this. Thank goodness Xi is not smart enough to undermine the west strategically like Deng was, they were quiet and not threatening others so they were treated as friends. Well we see how that turned out. Pretty much you should not treat dictators as friends, they are not, never are. Chinas was on track for a while with a pretty effective foreign policy that advanced it interests then came Xi. Thank god for that. Xi’s policies have created incredible world wide resistance to his arrogance and militancy. More and more countries are resisting China or restricting China’s influence or building military capabilities to counter China’s current aggression in the South China Sea. Now the Philippines has Typhon missile systems that can sink any Chinese ship including up to Taiwan. Prior to Xi that probably would not have happened. The U.S. Navy is activating several joint Philippine U.S. joint navel bases. Again thank Xi for that. Xi may launch his attack and without a doubt will find the corruption in the Chinese military is as bad as Russia’s. He thinks he has some military capability, but when you have to use it in a real life situation you find out what you really have, just like Russia did. All the corruption that rotted the military from the inside will be plain to see if he attacks. They also have no military experience and will face better western weapons. I would advise him not to do it and take a peaceful road to solving his issues with Taiwan, but that would be smart. If he was a good leader the country would still be growing fast, but he isn’t so know he needs something else to focus the Chinese people’s attention on to draw their attention away from the economy, so Taiwan is a given for this, Japan close second and then the U.S.. Move all western factories out of China and put them in India or other Asian nations. Keep the tariffs on China as these are very appropriate. Japan, Taiwan and others should continue their military build up so when China moves the U.S., Japan, S. Korea, and Taiwan will bloody Xi’s nose. He will be gone shortly after that. Maybe the CCP would learn a lesson from that but I think their nose will have to be bloodied repeatedly. Unless they get a smart leader, seems unlikely. Wumao save your responses, I am not interested in paid propaganda.
