Perpetuating war is all I hear
Europe’s support for Russia, after Georgia, after Crimea and Donbas, even after the full scale invasion is absolutely disgusting. Like I’m fully aware the US government isn’t some pinnacle of morality, but geez, in comparison to Europe it really does look like a shining city on a hill.
But it also has to be said that Russia’s revenues from the EU have dropped by roughly 80%.
The EU sent russia roughly €50 billion a year — and that is not pure profit. Out of that, russia keeps maybe half, maybe a bit more, for financing the war. russia’s war costs around €1 billion per day on average, so the EU effectively covered at most a month of russia’s war expenses — and even that only if every euro went directly into weapons, which it didn’t, because russia also needs that money to keep its state budget alive. Meanwhile, Ukraine used all €190 billion of support directly for defence. And that’s a huge difference. russia is burning through its future; once the war ends, it will find itself in a medieval state, and the world will have to save russia just so people there don’t start eating each other.
Do it, no more money to the true evil nation. They have no shame and this is the only thing they listen to
The European Union’s share of Russian fossil fuel imports has dropped significantly, from 45% in 2021 to 19% in 2024 for gas, and from 27% in 2022 to 3% in 2024 for oil.
The biggest importers who haven’t reduced their imports are Hungry and Slovakia.
So that’s a big drop and hopefully they can wean off them completely sometime soon
If we start using the frozen assets a lot of companies outside of Europe will be afraid of dealing with EU. EU will loose some of its trust and integrity for these companies, since now the EU can just sell frozen assets in upcoming conflicts. This will be a big loss for EU.
Corporations have no conscience. They will wash their hands of all responsibility in the name of profit
How can you compare EU money, which goes 100% to support Ukraine, with Russia’s revenues from fossil fuel exports? After all, those €200 billion are not pure profit for Russia. Russia’s profit on a single barrel of oil is often just a few euros/dollars. Especially for oil exported by sea, freight and insurance costs are particularly high, and customers demand large discounts. Circumventing sanctions also comes at a cost.
Not naming anyone in particular, but looking right at you Hungary
Sweden has decreased their import of Russian origin oil by 90% and no gas imports from Russia since the start of the war, a lot of other EU countries can definetly do better..

Too late, the war is lost. This is thanks to the inaction of European countries. If we had given Ukraine what they asked for four years ago, the war would have lasted a few months and, perhaps, the Putin regime would have fallen as a result.
I don’t have a quarrel with that number. A hundred billion less will kill more people and do more damage compared to the amount of oil they buy.
My problem is, what is Ukraine doing with the money. My country’s small armed forces would have conquered Moscow with that amount. Remember that Wagner took only a few days to make Putin shit on his pants.
