In 2019, Zelensky announced a partial withdrawal of forces from Donbass to deescalate tensions with Russia. Soldiers revolted. He went to Zolote to speak to them. Azov troops told him they wouldn’t let him pull back. Here he is getting chewed out by a soldier.

  2. I love that the soldier doesnt have to fear for his life when he argues with the president and i also love that the president doesnt lose his cool when this happens, but remains calm and explains what is happening.

  5. this is how people argue in a democracy – they both understand that the other wants what is best but they have an honest and earnest disagreement. And Zelensky won’t just execute him and his family, as would happen in Russia or China.

  6. In hind sight, I’m guessing the soldier was right and Zelensky was wrong. Russia was coming, the soldiers needed to be as prepared as possible. Zelensky has since learned, but at great cost.

  7. The Azov core is working near Pokrovsk right now. I doubt Zelensky could have ordered them out of Mirnograd if he tried.

  8. There’s a high chance this was meant to be released and coordinated. Everyone is correct that normal leaders do not do this.

    Especially with large nationalist brigades posing as the strongest arm of your military.

  9. Zelensky looks a lot younger and softer than I’m used to. Good to see thare is dilogue even if not always appreciated.

  12. putin doesn’t want land ,,wtf ,russia has loads of that already .
    putin and the Russian elite are absolutely petrified that Russian’s will see how ukrainians live in a more democratic way and they see that those at the top work for the people , not the other way around .
    if the russian people realise that they can have more freedoms of speech , government officials should work for them , a more fair and open society, …putin and co will be finished …that’s why putin wants to destroy ukraine ..putin wants to destroy the idealism that russian’s can learn from ukraine
