People are seeing this with too much optimism. Russia still has over 10,000 APCs in storage, 2,500 MBTs, etc., all while producing over 1,000 new armored vehicles (all categories) a year.
They are not running out of armor anytime soon. At the current pace of losses, They can carry on for at least 5 years, notwithstanding ongoing development of additional production lines for T-80,T-90 and MBT’s ).
Meanwhile Ukraine is producing 0 armor. They all gotta buy stuff. So the odds in terms or armor is significantly slanted against Ukraine. And you need armor to go on the attack.
Can’t imagine in what state these things are. They have been dragging old stuff out of storage for years now, getting them somehow into a working condition is almost a new build. Also those will most probably not receive major upgrades they need for modern warfare, so those things are not much safer than the ladas that Russia does most assaults with.
