November the 25th, 2025 – The popular Wizz Air is set to connect Rijeka with three cities in Poland as of the 9th of June 2026.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, low-cost carrier Wizz Air is planning to launch new routes to Rijeka, a destination it has not previously served, connecting it with three cities in Poland. The services will start on June the 9th next year from Katowice, Lublin and Gdansk. The first two will operate twice a week, and the second three times a week until the end of the 2026 summer season, reports Ex-Yu Aviation News.
Tickets are now available for purchase via the airline’s website. Wizz Air has also been awarded flight slots between Warsaw Chopin and Rijeka, but has not yet officially scheduled the service. Just several weeks ago, Wizz Air also reported that it was selling three new Airbus A321neo passenger aircraft and had reduced its order for long-haul Airbus aircraft from 47 all the way down to 11.
According to aviationweek.com, the changes to Wizz Air’s order book include postponing the delivery of 88 A321neo aircraft to the early 2030s and converting 36 A321XLR aircraft to A321neo. The airline plans to slow capacity expansion, forecasting annual growth of 10 to 12 percent until the end of this decade. Aviation Week reports that this slower growth will only become apparent in about a year, once aircraft already committed for delivery arrive.
The website adds that the low-cost carrier reiterated its expectation that its entire fleet will be Airbus Neo by 2029 as previous-generation A320 and A321 aircraft are retired. While Wizz Air reported a strong peak season with fewer delays and disruptions, it will continue its cost-cutting efforts to reduce business risks and support sustainable and profitable growth. The company closed its Wizz Air Abu Dhabi subsidiary and its Vienna base in September, refocusing on Central and Eastern Europe.
