Here are Tuesday’s latest updates from Israel, Gaza, and the Middle East:

■ The armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group said on Monday that it has located a body of a deceased hostage in an area controlled by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip.

■ The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, a controversial Israel-U.S.-backed aid distribution body that replaced major humanitarian organizations in the Strip, ended its emergency mission in the Strip.

■ An exchange of fire between Israeli forces and a Palestinian militant in Nablus, West Bank is underway, according to a joint statement by the IDF, Shin Bet, and the counterterrorism unit Yamam, while Jewish worshippers ascend to Joseph’s Tomb, a Jewish holy site and flash point for violent clashes near the Palestinian Balata refugee camp.

■ The IDF said it shot and killed five Palestinians in the Gaza Strip in two separate shootings after several people crossed the Israeli-controlled Yellow Line, approaching Israeli forces “in a manner that posed an immediate threat to them,” according to one of the army statements.

■ The Knesset approved the appointment of Justice Minister Yariv Levin to the positions of Minister of Religious Services, Minister of Labor and Minister of Jerusalem Affairs, as well as the appointment of Tourism Minister Haim Katz, formerly of the Likud party, to the positions of Minister of Health and Minister of Welfare. The ministries have been operating without ministers since October, following the resignation of Shas party leaders in July over a delay in passing draft exemption legislation for the ultra-Orthodox.

■ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair, who was chosen by Trump to oversee Gaza’s Board of Peace, which will govern the Strip on an interim basis. On Sunday, Blair visited Palestinian Authority Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh. According to al-Sheikh’s statement on X, they discussed the UN Security Council resolution approving the deployment of an international stabilization force in Gaza, as well as statehood and the Palestinian right to self-determination.

■ The Palestinian Islamic Jihad announced that it has located the body of a deceased hostage in an area controlled by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip. Three deceased hostages remain in Gaza: Ran Gvili, Dror Or and Thai citizen Sudthisak Rinthalak.

■ The French Foreign Ministry called on all parties to exercise restraint following the Israeli strike in Beirut, Lebanon on Sunday, which killed five and wounded 28, calling on parties to go through the ceasefire monitoring mechanism to report threats and not take “unilateral actions.”

■ Human rights organizations petitioned the High Court to renew family visits for Palestinians held as security detainees in Israeli prisons, who have been subjected to a complete ban on family contact since October 7, 2023. The petition notes that as of early November, the Israel Prison Service is holding 9,206 Palestinians suspected or convicted of security-related offenses, among them 3,368 administrative detainees – who are held in custody without charge or trial – and 3,389 detainees who have not yet been convicted of any offense.

■ Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on Monday that he is freezing senior IDF appointments for 30 days to re-examine the report on the IDF’s failures on October 7 submitted earlier this month by a committee led by Maj. Gen. (res.) Sami Turgeman.
