WANA (Nov 25) – In a continuation of the recent surge in diplomatic exchanges between Tehran and Islamabad, Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari met with Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, reaffirming his country’s “full solidarity” with the Islamic Republic of Iran against what he described as “the aggression of the Zionist regime.” Zardari stressed that Islamabad remains committed to providing sustained political and diplomatic support to Tehran, calling this stance a key regional responsibility for Pakistan.
Referring to his recent meeting with President Masoud Pezeshkian in Islamabad, Zardari described the ongoing diplomatic exchanges between the two neighbors as evidence of a “positive trajectory” in bilateral relations. He also thanked Iran for its principled positions on Kashmir and Palestine, and welcomed progress in negotiations over the Iran–Pakistan gas pipeline project, calling it essential for regional energy security and economic stability.
During the meeting, Larijani praised the “bravery and success” of Pakistan’s armed forces in recent events, emphasizing that “Pakistan’s victory is Iran’s victory.” He added that following the Iranian president’s visit to Pakistan, several new directives were issued to grant preferential access for Pakistani goods to the Iranian market—steps that could help pave the way toward the shared goal of reaching 10 billion dollars in bilateral trade.
Observers say the constructive tone of the meeting signals a mutual desire in both capitals to upgrade strategic cooperation—across energy, trade, security, and broader regional affairs.
