The Maritime Industry Authority of the Philippines met with the Danish Maritime Authority to explore new areas of collaboration in green shipping, ship safety and seafarer training.
The meeting took place on Wednesday 19 November at Marina’s Central Office in Manila, where Administrator Sonia Malaluan welcomed the Danish delegation led by Director Martin Riis Hansen, head of maritime policy and international affairs at the Danish Maritime Authority.
According to Marina, the discussions focused on technical assistance in areas such as maritime digitalization, decarbonization and safety standards for domestic ferries. The two authorities also reviewed opportunities under Denmark’s Strategic Sector Cooperation framework, which supports technical partnerships and development funding.
Marina said collaboration with international partners can help accelerate the adoption of sustainable practices and advanced technologies across the Philippine maritime sector.
Both sides agreed to continue identifying potential joint initiatives aimed at strengthening industry capacity and meeting global standards.
