1. The Japanese are celebrating! After years of being overwhelmed by hordes of rude Chinese tourists, they can finally enjoy domestic tourism again. No country should ever become economically dependent on a bullying neighbor. Hopefully more Asian nations will follow Japan’s lead and take a similar stance. ✋

   I saw a funny clip this morning. Mainland Chinese tourists in Japan were interviewed on the streets. When asked “you heard about Xi Jing Ping advising against Japan travels?” the tourists bailed the hell out of the interviews.

9. Despite JP’s heavy reliance on Tourism (isn’t it JP’s second export biggest industry after cars?), still think it was not the best counter CN could have played. JP‘s anti-foreigner(Chinese) sentiment has been quite vocal, and poll on Takaichi is through the roof now.

19. This is great news for anybody travelling to Japan – the crowds, from mostly Chinese tourists are horrible.

25. This, to average Japanese, isn’t necessarily unwelcomed. The Over tourism in Japan is real and this makes the hotel price insanely high.

    Arguably the Japanese society is very Chinese friendly and safe for them but the Chinese people are partially responsible for the over tourism among other visitors.
    So a slight reduction in number would be rather appreciated.

    Of course, not by the business owners who target specifically the Chinese.
