  1. Wonder how this will be recorded in GERS. Is this £820m of debt put onto Scotland?

  2. It’s not because of any need, no reason stated, no justification. Just for her mate Anas.

    > Reeves says the money for Scotland is being paid “because Anas Sarwar asked us to”.

    > Budget 2025 live: Rachel Reeves scraps two-child benefit cap and confirms council tax changes as OBR apologises for leaking details https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/live/2025/nov/26/budget-2025-rachel-reeves-tax-cash-isa-minimum-wage-latest-news-updates?CMP=share_btn_url&page=with%3Ablock-6926f7e18f080219393408ea#block-6926f7e18f080219393408ea

  3. What’s the reason Kirkcaldy received this money? Seems a little random but maybe I missed something previously in the works.

  4. Need to see the details if this money had already been accounted for.

Almost if there is an election next year, and they have to pay attention to Scotland.

Any additional cash is always welcome, churlish to not take that position

  5. I’m a bit out of the loop with these things: will there even be enough time for SGov to allocate extra funding? The Parliament comes to a close in a few months’ time, surely a UK Budget should happen before a Scottish one so they know what they can actually work with rather than play catch-up.

  6. Put it on infrastructure, trains trains trains !!

  7. And what about England how much are they getting off this benevolent hand in the pocket.

  8. I mean, Kirkcaldy could do with the help… but even I must admit, £440 for every man, woman and child in Kirkcaldy is simultaneously a lot of money and a drop in the bucket.

It seems like we have been trying to redevelop the town centre and seafront for the past 30 years, without a clear direction beyond some nice architect ‘s renders and the usual barrage of buzzwords. Never in that time have I seen the clear answer to the question: “Develop into what, exactly?”.

  9. £20M to redevelop Kirkcaldy centre and its seafront? Might as well hit it with a nuclear reset and start completely from scratch.

  10. “Because Ana’s Sarwar asked us to”

If that doesnt sum up why we are so done with Westminster I dont know what else to say.

How about you provide what we need and are due as an equally partnering nation because thats simply what we need and are due?

    Crazy right.

  11. Genuinely a big fan of the English working harder and getting less so we get more money. I find it very funny.

Chop chop, back to work. I want more treats.

  12. Not happy about a lot of the changes but FairPlay

  13. So we give them £80b they give back £40b roughly , and we’re as supposed to be happy with an add, £820m, How about we don’t give them the £80b in the first place !!!

  14. For the love of god, use real terms and make it relative!

    The Scottish budget is 44323m

    850m / 44323m = a 1.92% increase.

Inflation (CPI) is 3.6% per ONS.

    Sounds like a cut?

  15. I fail to see a world where that increases Labours chances of winning next year based on this. Great to see an increase but still unlikely to move the dial in Sarwar’s favour no matter how many times they are likely to bring it up.

  16. £820 million…. Are they planning to build a new boat for Arran?

  17. In other news, Glasgow City Council are pleased to announce the construction of another line that also doesn’t go near where anyone needs to, to the subway network.

In other, other news, ScotGov announces that A9 dualling will be delayed by another 10 years due to lack of available funds

  18. Usual Smoke and Mirros lies from Labour:

Barnett Formula increase means plus £800 million for Scotland.

But then Block Grant Adjustment due to frozen UK Income tax fresholds = Minus £800 million for Scotland.

    £800 – £800 = Sweet FA.
