Hi everyone! My grandfather passed away years ago, and he loved to collect odd, antiques, coins, and basically anything. As far as I can tell, he had never been to Luxembourg, but when he passed away, this bronze medal of his came into my possession. I can’t find anything about it online, who is depicted here, why it was produced, or if it’s worth anything.

The only details I can make out are “GROSSHERZOG VON…” and “FESTIVAL … ECHTERNACH 6 AUGUST 1893.” I don’t speak German, so hopefully this is correct.

Any details would be helpful. Thank you!

  1. This is Adolphe Nassau-Weilburg, who was Grand-Duc of Luxembourg from 1890 until 1905.

The inscription says “FESTIVAL WETTSTREIT ECHTERNACH 6 AUGUST 1895”
