T1 Energy CEO Meets U.S. Vice President JD Vance To Discuss Domestic Solar Growth And American Energy Independence

T1 Energy Inc., Chairman and CEO Dan Barcelo recently met with U.S. Vice President JD Vance during a policy conference in Washington D.C. to discuss the growth of American energy and manufacturing. Barcelo emphasized T1’s commitment to “energy from America, for America, and by Americans,” thanking the Vice President and the Administration for policies that support domestic growth, economic development, and trade—foundations that are critical to T1’s strategy of building a scalable, reliable, and cost-effective domestic solar supply chain.

T1 Energy is advancing plans to begin construction on the 2.1 GW phase of its G2_Austin solar cell fabrication facility before the end of the year. In October, the company raised a significant portion of the necessary capital through equity financing. The first phase of G2_Austin is projected to start producing solar cells in the fourth quarter of 2026, with an estimated investment of $400–$425 million and a workforce of approximately 1,700 employees.

The company’s broader mission focuses on strengthening American energy independence, reshoring manufacturing, and establishing domestic solar supply chains. T1 currently owns and operates the G1_Dallas solar module facility in Wilmer, Texas, one of the most advanced solar manufacturing plants globally, which is expected to produce between 2.6 and 3.0 GW of solar modules in 2025.

Through these initiatives, T1 is building a fully integrated, domestic silicon-based supply chain to meet the growing demand for electricity driven by AI datacenters, industrial expansion, and increasing residential energy consumption. The company’s efforts position it at the forefront of scaling renewable energy production while supporting U.S. energy dominance and manufacturing resilience.
